Golf Swing Tips To Cure Your Slice And Stop Three Putts

Golf is one sport where we can critique the technique we use until we're blue in the face. There are so many golf swing tips available in DVD's, books, and on the Internet it can be easy to become over whelmed with knowledge and never spend any time trying to improve. Myself I've played a lot of golf, some good and some bad rounds in there, and there are two particular key golf tips that helped my score better then any others. One solved my slice which I battled with for at least a half a dozen seasons. The second solved my continuous 3 putt issue. I found myself making wonderful approach shots but still walking away with double and triple bogy's. So I thought why keep these two simple tips to myself, if you're struggling with your driver or your putter take these into consideration next time your at the practice range.

If you're slicing

If you tend to slice the ball off the tee quite often the culprit can be your grip. The actual cause is simply put the club face isn't coming back square to the ball at impact, how ever there are a variety of issues that can cause this to happen. Without analyzing your swing the easiest fix you can try is to strengthen your grip. By this we don't mean grip the club as if you are trying to strangle it, rather change your hand positioning.

Next time your at the practice range, look down at how you're hands appear when gripping your driver. The top hand (left hand for rightie golfers) how many knuckles can you see? If you cannot see the first three then try turning your complete grip inwards towards yourself until you see the three knuckles through your golf clove. This gives a stronger control over the golf club, and helps close the face quicker on your down swing. One thing to keep in mind here is that your hands should always be facing each other, if you move the top hand be sure to do the same for the bottom hand.

If you're continually three putting

Of course putting is where you make or break each hole, and round with your score. The old saying “drive for show, putt for doe” still hold true. Maybe you've fallen victim to purchasing some of the latest and greatest training aids for putting. Don't feel bad because most of these tools will do wonders for helping your aim, but this little golf tip will help you with a more consistent stroke each time with your putter.

For those that don't know the proper putting stroke should consist of 1/3 back swing, and 2/3 follow through. Before you make a putt take a couple of practice strokes so you feel comfortable with the amount of back swing and follow through you believe is needed to make the shot. Now the real tip here is this, don't hold your arms straight when putting. If you can imagine this push your elbows out so that your forearms and putter form a letter Y. At first this might feel uncomfortable, but it will encourage you to swing from your shoulders rather then snapping the wrists. This is the number one cause of missed putts, using your wrists to much in the putting stroke.
