Wedges have a mind of their own.

Ok. So here is the situation.

I am 30 yards out. i would like to make a soft sandwedge shot. To only get up and onto the green. The lie is such that I would like to get it up in the air and land pretty softly, I do not truly desire to let it run that much.

I line up. I take a practice swing, that feels great.

When i take my true swing, it feels like I am doing everythin right, and then every one of the sudden my ball is going off in totally the wrong direction, usually to the right in a straight line (i would say 45degree angle away from my target line at least)

Whats happening here? Could i be takin too shallow a swing, or my swing path is outside coming in or something? Why does it feel right and go so horribly wrong?!!

Anyways.. anybody else, please post your thoughts, or your own Wedge woes.

I Cant Hit My SW! yes, thats right, i cant hit my sand wedge

im currently making use of a 456 chrome vokey SW. 56*

i do fine across the greens and decent out of bunkers, however if i attempt to take a 3/4-full swing with it i either close the face and hit a draw or leave the face wide open leaving me way short of the target.

any suggestions on getting the face where it ought to be at impact? i dont have this dilemma with any of my other clubs.

Help with 56 and 60 degree wedges

I like Vokey wedges - I have had them for a # of years. I only made the following changes based on the understanding that these clubs would assist with tight lies.

Vokey 56/14 (Black nickel) was replaced with an Oilcan/SM 56/10

Vokey 60/08 was replaced with a Oilcan/SM 60/04

The major issue is amongst sand wedge. After my putter, it's the the majority of used club. I use it from greenside bunkers, for chipping across the greens, etc. For the past 2 rounds, amongst same stroke, I'm coming up short of the target when I chip greenside. Also, my bunker shots (same swing) are coming up short of the hole.

Can anybody explain to me how the reduced bounce is affecting my shots, and what I'm able to do to compensate? Could it be something else besides the reduced bounce?

Thank you!

Pelz Wedge Play

I have not truly had a opportunity to practice my Pelz wedge play over the winter. I have published about it frequently prior to: here and here).

Today, it was rather windy, so I spent my time hitting balls to the temp green (and flag) in front of my club's 18th green. I hit shots with my three wedges from all around the place - 20 yards out to 100 yards.

Except for several skanky shots where I got distracted, I was incredibly impressed with my wedge play. I once would be spotty with my short game in the summer, however I instantly began hitting shots in under "blanket" distance - three to four balls that, from 100 yards, could be covered with a blanket.

I remain incredibly impressed with this technique of wedge play.
