![]() Any tips for this swing...?Aloha!Anybody care to have a peek....? http://media.putfile.com/Face_On_6_iron http://media.putfile.com/Down_the_line_6_iron Cheers Read more on this topic Tiger's Swing and What I'm LearningThis post is about hitting the driver. Note that I'm taking from Tiger's original swing, which was more upright and steep than today ("2-plane"). Also, a lot of you will know this stuff already, as did I however I even now think you may discover this post helpful.I only picked up How I Play Golf which I definetly recommend to anybody intrigued in great, straightforward instruction with plenty of top quality photos. I have been carefully going over the pullout section of photos from the front, side, and top views of him hitting a driver (not very much the text however only studying the images). As I stand in my apartment practicing the positions and moves with a heavily weighted driver (see my post on this homemade swing trainer) I feel a tremendous sense of coil and stability. Here are the things I think I especially important from this: 1) Setup: Shoulders at about a 30* tilt. Eyes looking right down the nose at the back of the ball (head tilted with shoulders). Right leg in a reverse K--it looks like Tiger is braced against the inside of his right foot already (Daly talks about this in Grip it and Rip it). 2) Takeaway: at 9 o'clock back of left hand square to club face, entirely facing away from body, club head entirely open relative to the ball. At the top full shoulder turn, wrist and club entirely, perfectly parallel. Left arm perfectly straight, spine angle retained. Head has moved slightly behind the ball however the right leg has not been forced of position by the turn. The rest is academic I think. I think one big key to this swing is the right leg. It goes like an anchor. If your like me, and this has been happening for the reason that of fatigue lately, you drift a bit sometimes. It is difficult to press against the inside of that right foot constantly however you must steer clear of the natural temptations to allow your weight settle on the outside of the right foot (i.e. an ever so slight power draining shift). I will right more later. Please comment on Tiger immediately or then or your own swing. Read more on this topic Right elbow - new swing theory? As you can know from studying other posts I've only began playing again after a long layoff. I've been watching tournaments on TV and have a query about a large difference in swings from what I was taught. I guess theories have changed.I was taught to maintain the right elbow in close to my side on the back swing. Keeping that elbow quiet is 1 of my 2 swing cues. Immediately it looks like all the pros have a large "flying right elbow" as it once was called. Is the idea that this increases the distance the clubhead travels and thereby enables extra time for increasing acceleration and, therefore, distance?
