Some Downswing questions

Hi everybody. My first post. I have been playing golf for about 6 months and slowing getting better however mostly a work in progress.

Only a number of queries regarding downswing:

1) I hear you ought to shift your weight (in your hips) from right to left. Is this a lateral shift or is this a rotational shift (i.e. initiating your downswing with hip rotation which will automatically bring the shoulders and arms around with it)?

2) How do you create lag? In slow motion videos of pros I see their wrist acting similar to a hinge about 2/3 of the way prior to impact. When I attempt to carry out it, I'm able to never get the club to square around.

Start of downswing, initiated with shoulders or hips

I only got into Golf, took 2 lessons so far, and I am loving it. I am at a point where I am working on increasing the distance by shifting the weight from my right to left on my downswing. Which means outside of right foot must be off of the ground prior to impact, I can't seem to carry out this.

I initiate my downswing amongst turn of the shoulders and waist. My buddy suggested I initiate my downswing amongst turn of the hips and have my shoulders follow soon after. Swinging w/o a club, I'm able to see how this can aid in bringing the outside of my right foot off of the ground prior to impact. The kicker is, it feels like my right foot is simply following my hips instead of driving the downswing.

How are you suppose to initiate the downswing?

Golf Fitness: The Core Muscles of The Swing

I am about to start bodybuilding to attempt to boost my distance and assist me better control the club. I bought a Momentus Signature and received it yesterday and I will strongly say, I truly like it.
