![]() Swing ChangeI got a wonderful lesson a week ago. I went in wanting assist on creating more consistent and better contact amongst ball. The pro had a wonderful teaching facility. There was digital video to examine your swing (first time I would ever seen my swing!) and the facility was indoors with a large garage door like opening so that you may well hit balls to a range. The pro was fantastic. He immediately noticed a stance that was too narrow and and also assist my posture (stand similar to a football I-back). Then he showed me a swing change that simplified my swing and truly felt great. The change was easy. Get the club back to waist hight, make a soft set, then maintain no different hand position for the remainder of the swing. At first I though he was joking, however I gave it an attempt. It took three or four swings, however I soon got the fell for it. What it felt like was that it took hands and arms out of the swing and it was all body. Once I set my hands all I needed to do was turn. I was literally creating effortless swings and hitting very nice iron shots- a high draw. No worry about weight shift, cocking or releasing or any of the other 97 things to lose sleep over at contact. Only turn, set, and turn. This is good for me for the reason that I am a tall skinny guy with long arms and legs that do not always work in a coordinated fashion. This sounds strange, however I literally felt like I was swinging from my belly button. I only hooked my arms and hand to the aged bellybutton and then rotated back then through. Also worked amongst driver though for a number of reason it felt a little strange. There was no loss of distance, and accuracy was fine. BTW, I went to the range and practiced it. I found that a great way to capture the feel was to hit half-wedges. Only take the wedge back a bit higher than the waist, hook things up and turn. Keeping your hands in?I locate creating a complete shoulder turn and keeping my head still AND keeping my hands tight and inside are the 3 hardest parts of my swing. I'm " getting it", however I even now need to truly work it. Do you ever get past the working it stage and eventually get it and it starts to come natural??? I mean it does however I need to keep myself in check. Anyway how about you all?
