![]() Iron play confusion...Since I at last developed something resembling a golf swing several months ago, my irons have been remarkably consistent so far as distance goes. My 9 iron would land balls at 102-105 yards and every iron longer added about 10-12 yards pretty consistently provided that I hit it well. I know those distances were rather short, however I have just been playing for 3 months so I was happy. While playing a round at the local par-3 course 3 weeks ago with my wife I grabbed my trusty 9-iron for the 102 yard opening hole and promptly zinged it straight and high 15 yards over the green. At the following hole, a 112-yarder I grabbed my 8-iron which I had always been pin high with just to whack it high and straight across the railroad tracks beyond the green. It took me the majority of that trip to re-calibrate myself to the new distances. since then my irons have settled to about 15 yards longer than what I was hitting prior to (I hit a 5-iron 176 yards on a par-5 a week ago), however I even now have shots where they will go as far as 20-25 yards farther and receive me in trouble long. I'm able to feel when I am hitting the irons well, my hips seem to lead the parade and it only feels right, however I am still not able to be very consistent. Immediately, my 9-iron hits anywhere from 110 to 130 yards depending on the way much I put into it. I guess my question is how much effort ought to I be putting into a 'normal' iron swing? Maybe on a scale of 1 to 10, my long balls are pretty much a 10. I recall in Ben Hogan's guide he said to go all-out each swing, however others seem to have other ideas. Any advice to improve consistency of distance? Read more on this topic True-er iron distancesHello all,I only picked up the game in June and really like it. I've taken several lessons and have been pretty active on the course also including the range. My question is this, how can one determine a more accurate estimation of club distances? I'm striving for better accuracy rather than how far i'm able to whack the ball. However at an identical time it's crucial to have a true-er estimation to gain the ability to reach the greens more often. At the range the're so a lot variables (poor balls, mats etc), and when on the course it's difficult to gauge distance except if you play the course several times and discover which club to use at which hole. I've even thought of a laser range finder, just I am uncertain if they can pin point a ball on the course. Any ideas would be very appreciated, thank you. Read more on this topic hitting iron on the toesI was wondering if anybody can provide me any advise on this. I'm prone to hitting my irons towards the toe of the club, thus creating me an incredibly in consistent with these tools. I've tried to step closer to the ball however it feels too close and I finish up entirely miss hitting it. One can somebody tell me what you think I'm doing wrong and 2 any drills you recomend to fix this.Read more on this topic 5-wood, 2-iron/2-hybridSo essentially, as I relize it, 2 irons, 2 hybrids and your 5 wood have about no different degree on them. So pretty much they will hit about no different distance, hypothetically. My question is, what's the advantages to carrying a 5 wood instead of a 2 iron or 2hybrid. Or carrying 5wood and 2hybrid, or a 5 wood and a 2 iron. or whatever combination you are able to think of. What do individuals think? Read more on this topic Other Golf Related Topics
