Hooking with Short Irons

Two days ago, I began to tinker with my grip. Do not know why, I suppose I was bored. In hindsight, do not fix what ain't broken. I take a trip over to the range on Sunday night and last night and a hook was entirely and utterly destroyed all that I had success amongst past fortnight!

Is it my grip? Would an overly strong grip create a hook in my iron game? I have decided to stay away from the range for at least a week to make certain I forget regarding the past 2 nights and hopefully forget the bad habit that I exhibited the past 2 nights.

Any feedback would truly assist.

Help me to get rid of my nasty hook

I am attempting to eliminate a nasty hook and I am sort of desperate. I truly cannot figure out why my balls go left. It all began two weeks ago when I took a lesson from a local pro. I was not releasing the club great so I got a number of excersises to boost the release (going through the ball, not hitting hit).
Anyway, my swing truly improved and all the things was looking great (for a beginner). Immediately, all of a sudden, I am beginning to hit one hook after the other.
Could it be that my clubface isn't square at impact? If so, are there any great excersises that you're able to recommend me?

thank you in advance,

KN

Often pushing drives badly, rarely hooking, never slicing - advice needed

The last six months or so I seem to have developed a nasty push with my driver, often into deep rough or even the adjacent fairway. Only horrible. My distance is pretty much where I desire it to be given my physical condition and general joint stiffness at the moment (250-280, depending), however my accuracy - ugh! I never slice, however occasionally produce a duck hook if I did not make the large push. A number of rounds about 1 of 3 drives actually stay on the fairway - it's killing my game. I have searched the forum on the subject of pushes however have not produce analysis that truly does it for me.

I am sure that at the top I am shifting to an inside-to-outside swing plane. Heck, I'm able to see it effortlessly if I only make practice swings and watch the path of the clubhead going through the contact zone. If you stand in the sun with only the right angle of light you are able to effortlessly see the clubhead path - not a pretty sight sometimes. And I never see the opposite, out-to-in pull type of swing, with driver at least. The clubface is reasonably square, hence the mostly straight hits - not much great to me when I am off by 10 or more degrees. I mean if you are gonna push like that, better you put a nice draw on the ball as well ..... . However no, that is not what I am searching for. I must cure that blasted push. The question is, how?

One thing I think I am doing is letting the V in the arms break down at the top, i.e. still moving my arms further back when I am loaded up and my shoulders are fully turned. I suppose you may well call this "overswinging", i.e. reaching for that additional bit of distance that only kills you. When I truly work to prevent this happening (very difficult for a number of reason), I feel a lot lot more in charge in the transition and seem to lose the large pushes. It seems to assist when I also keep my left hand fully extended from my shoulder all the way up and down. Again, a greater feeling of cohesion in the arms/upper body and plenty more self-belief. The stupid thing is that my drive distance does not suffer noticeably when I do not over-reach at the top, however it's very difficult to prove to my subconscious NOT to carry out this for a number of reason.

Any ideas, folks? Clever drills, techniques, you-name-it ...... Has anything like this happened to you? Missing more than half of the fairways to the right in a large way with driver is discouraging, the pressure on the remainder of my game is only ruinous and it takes many the pleasure away even though the remainder of my game has been creating decent progress.
