Lowering Handicap

For my first year of competitive golf I began 2005 at only over a 20 handicap and only ended my season at a 14.5. For my 2006 goals I would like to get my handicap below 12. Am I being realistic or too simple on myself with that goal?

I have heard that getting below a 20 is fairly simple provided you spend quality time practicing however that getting into single digits is where the true work and challenge lies.

Low Handicappers, help me putt!

Dear Low-Handicap-Types who putt the ball well,

This summer I used the Golf Digest Challenge to track my handicap. While my "long game handicap" was great, around--4 to 5. . .

My "short game handicap" was, oh, 15

As you can have guessed, Bastard Mr. 3 putt is visiting a lot lot more than the sexy little Miss one putt!

I'm committed to improving my putting, and I need assist!

My Questions are:

#1 What drills have you used to boost lag putting?
#2 What drills have you used to boost short putting?
#3 What kind of practice facility would you seek out/avoid?
#4 How do you do it in the winter months?

For all drills, please include number of reps, hours a week, etc!

Thank you for advice, and ENCOURAGEMENT is welcome!
