![]() Wet sand playThis is tied, somewhat loosely, to one more post, The high-percentage shot.Earlier this week, my wife and I got out for a round in the early part of the day after the course had had a heavy watering. The bunkers were like "hard pan" relative to what you may expect, or at least hope to locate. My ball found 2 of them early in the front nine and I managed to gain out with my sand wedge with mixed outcomes, i.e. neither particularly great. Shortly after, my wife found a greenside bunker and asked for my advice - pretty gutsy having seen my recent efforts. There was no lip on the edge of the bunker and not a lot lot more than 3-4 feet between the bunker and the green. My advice was to use a choked-down five iron and, basically, "putt" the ball out. Her result was a definite improvement over my earlier efforts. This, understandably, led to the question of why I'd tell her to carry out one thing if I played similar shots a different way entirely. The underlying tone of her question, however, was that I was not "teaching" her correct method however, rather, playing down to her inexperience. My question immediately is how much "creativeness" is appropriate to show a new golfer with no undermining solid, basic method? Is it an important factor in showing somebody the way to play the game or, ought to it simply come with every individual's own experiences? When I go to the range and hit a bucket of balls, I develop a blister on the top right edge of the fourth finger on my right hand, only beneath the nail. That area is rubbing against the 2nd finger on my left hand, where they meet. I am uncertain whether it's the result of too weak or strong a grip on both hands or either hand.
