![]() Angle of AttackI was hoping to gain a number of assist since my pro does not return for the season until following month. I'm a new golfer and it seems like I have always struggled amongst different angle of attack for an iron in comparison to a wood. This year I have gotten to the point where I just use my irons, typically teeing off with a 3 or 4 iron, due to a lack of self-belief in my 5 wood. Simply keep in mind (I do not yet own a driver or 3 wood. This is based upon recommendations from others.) I in fact have not played bad this year however I obviously do not have the distance that I truly need.As I relize, please correct me if I am wrong, one ought to hit down and through when using an iron. While with a wood, the path is more horizantal (swing image: striking a nail into the back of the ball). Lastly I also relize that the angle of attack would be from below (upwards) when utiling a wood to hit a ball on a tee. Is this all correct? If so, how can I ensure a smoother swing transition from wood to iron? Or is it something I only must practice? They were also rather weak. While studying on here I heard it mentioned iron shots should not be too high, however mine are most certainly (maybe 2 of my houses or so stacked) and my shots don't stick very well. . . although hitting the green is a rarity.Your suggestions would be very useful - underneath is a brief video I took of my swing in my backyard. I'm aiming pretty much straight ahead (a tad bit left) and I'm swinging at a tee. I think I'm holding a 5 iron. ![]() I'd also love to know if this video is high enough in quality for the swing check. I was making use of my digital camera. Thank you edit: and no I do not wear sandals when I golf :p Read more on this topic tell me why this is differentI need to create an effort to maintain my hands low through the swing to obtain a nice looking consistent shot .when i raise my hands or dont consider it at all is when the inconsistencies arrive .so to my question ... what is happening that so drasticly changes my shots from pure to scrap in only this small change? btw this is for all of my clubs .
