losing your game?

Hey guys, I was wondering, is there such thing as losing your game?
It seems to have happened in previous time month or 2, where my iron play has gone from my greatest part of my game, to a truly awful part of my game?
Is it due to a lack of self-belief or is there a number of other reason for this?
Thank you.

Ego spoils the round of the High Handicapper?

When playing yesterday I hit several howlers with my driver during the first few holes and prepared myself for a terrible round. However, I made a decision to park the driver from hole 3 onwards and instead hit 3 wood and 5 wood of the tee. This resulted in a rather dramatic transformation in my outlook. I practically hit every one of the outstanding fairways leaving an incredibly playable 2nd shot the majority of the time.

This has led me to the basic question, ought to high handicappers truly be carrying the "big dog" in their bag? The ego screams yes, however the reality is that erratically hitting a driver into the woods and/or the heavy cabbage (rough) is an act of self sabotage. Any views out there?

Not thinking happy thoughts

Sorry this is so long,

Well over the previous 2 years i've been consistintly shooting in the mid to low 80's. My last 4 rounds after not playing for a few weeks are 84,98,93,91. I dont know what happened. My driver has suffered the worst. I once would hit it normally arround 250-280. Immediately i'm barely hitting the ball. I'm making use of this little hack swing where i dont even break my wrists only so i'm able to hit the ball in play about 210-230 however slices each immediately and then. basically an identical thing is happening with my irons. my 3-6 iron i cant even hit anymore. i feel like i am in the movie space jam and a number of alien stole all my talent. all except my short game. i am getting up and down over 50% of the time. i've had just 2 3putts in those four rounds. 2 rouds i had under 30 putts. i've been playing golf for 10 years and i am 21. i have tried all my little tricks that usually fix my difficulties however not a thing. immediately i tried to adjust very much i forgot what my original swing felt like. i have just had 2 lessons in my life however i am thinking of going out and getting a number of for the reason that i'm at a loss, i only dont get it. anybody ever has this dilemma?
