Internal Clock?

One tip that a guy was floating around on "private lessons" on the golf channel is to have an internal clock for timing your swing. Do any of you guys count to a number so that proper lag is achieved? When I tried it today, I was thinking too much and could not make consitant contact. An example of this is counting to 2 when you get to the peak of your backswing, and then to 3 when you hit the ball.

Range mats promote bad habits?

Hello, I'm new to the forum, and also new to the game. Began two months ago. When I practice at the driving range, I do not slice, I do not hook, no draw, no fade. Rather, slight push or pull if my face angle is off a bit. I have been to several launch monitors, rarely deviate more than 5 degrees every way. And I'm pleased to have my swing path and face angle sorta under control.

However my biggest misses has to be topping or hitting it too fat.

Anyhow, so I know the fundamental that I the majority of must work on is - swing arc.

Correct me if I'm wrong, I was taught that short and mid irons shots, you take a divot. I have even seen divots with long irons. http://golf.about.com/od/golftips/ss/golf_setup_3.htm

How am I suppose to take a divot on a range mat? I would hit the ground behind the ball if I attempt, or I natually attempt to steer clear of it by lifting up, however then top the ball.

So with the aim to hit a great shot, I would basically need to grace the mat for each club?

There's not a single grass range in my area, and do not desire to hack up my lawn. Immediately what?

Why buy a full set?

Bought my first collection of clubs. I've said this on the forum prior to. However I do not understand something.well maybe two things. I hope somebody is promised to help me out.

Number one:

Why purchase a complete collection of irons? The 1,2,3,4, and maybe the 5 are harder to hit than the new Hybrids? So from what I have read the majority of replace the irons. Why did I waste my cash buying those long irons? Does it work out to be cheaper only buying the entire set?

Number 2:

I think I read the majority of pro's or a high percentage of them use steel shafts. Is this true? If it's why are we all purchase graphite?

Number three:

Wedges, a lot purchase more than one. Why? what's the angle thats is accompanied with a standard set, for example my Nike Slingshots?

Number four:

A bag ought to contain , A driver, #3, 4 & 5, fairway wood (hybrid) Toss the irons, however keep the 6,7,8,9 irons & pitching wedge and or a sand wedge and the last club....A putter. is this pretty much all one needs.

Thank you for the info.
